Kuwait: The President of the Olympic Council of Asia, H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, conducted a five-country tour of Central Asia in mid-March to assess the development of sport and the Olympic movement in the region. Sheikh Ahmad, who is also President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), visited Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The OCA and ANOC President believes strongly that Central Asia is a new future sports power, and noted that, even with limited resources, the results of these countries in the Olympic Games and Asian Games are improving rapidly.

Furthermore, the governments in the five countries have increased the level of support for their own National Olympic Committees, which will contribute significantly to the further development and rise of the Olympic sports movement in Central Asia.
